The Pilgrim Singers, based in Wincanton, South Somerset, is an ecumenical choir consisting of members of different denominations and none, who enjoy singing together.

Under the direction of our conductor Jane Fenton we perform concerts in the local area for charity and special church occasions and have raised thousands of pounds for local, national and international charities over more than twenty years.

Our repertoire is varied and anyone who has attended one of our Christmas or Summer concerts will know they are fun and joyful occasions.

We cover a wide variety of music, from sacred to secular, latin to shona, jazz to shaker!

So why not come along to see and hear for yourself, rehearsals are on Thursday evenings and we are always keen to welcome new members who do not have to be experienced singers. If you would like to join us, please contact Jane by phone or email.

    Biographies

    Jane Fenton

    Conductor

Jane trained at the Royal College of Music and Bristol University singing opera and oratorio throughout the South of England. She was a founder of the Wincanton Arts Association, producing many concerts in the town. She combined this with teaching both at Leweston School and at home, whilst bringing up her large family with husband Christopher. Jane now conducts the Pilgrim Singers and teaches singing.

    Sheila Kitts

    Choral Assistant

Sheila was born into an Irish family where everybody sang and played music. She always loved singing and joined Jane's choir after she moved to Wincanton in 1988. Teaching in local schools, Sheila was welcomed with open arms; playing the piano and encouraging children to play and sing was very important to her. She still plays and sings in traditional Irish music sessions with her husband Terry, their four amazing daughters and many talented friends.

    Elaine Korman

    Rehearsal Accompanist

Elaine studied in Vancouver and Toronto, obtaining her degree ARCT, then studying accompaniment at Los Angeles with Gwendolen Koldofsky. She worked with English National Opera and since moving to Dorset, has worked with Dorset Opera, Sturminster Newton Choral Society, the Pilgrim Singers and other local choirs.
